I get stupidly excited by such things. I've always found fossils in the garden (the Cotswolds are excellent for Jurassic marine fossils), but an undamaged ammonite is pretty rare in my experience. Probably because they've always been so popular for folklore-y reasons.
They're more common in some places than in others, but you could probably find one if you look carefully. London isn't short of fossils, but a sharp eye does help.
Hi! I came here because no one on my reading list wrote anything new, and I read comments in corvidology's journal and I liked yours. So... then I read some of your posts, and liked them, too. And now I just love the fossil and am adding you, presuming that it's OK with you. :D
It's fine with me! I'm afraid I don't usually post a lot though. I'm trying to do "Stuff I Love" in February, but I can be quiet for long periods usually.
