Torchwood has never really gone in for happy endings, has it. I seem to remember waffling something about that the other day, in one of my book meanderings. "Into The Silence", was it? Possibly. I could easily look, but needless to say, I couldn't be bothered. Killing your own grandson in order to save the human race is certainly impressively Torchwoodian. And now Jack is off living a fanfiction writer's dream (Jack! Hitch-hiking through space!), and my beloved TW3 is in ruins. Nothing unsalvageable, though. He buggered off at the end of season one, too, although admittedly he hadn't just exploded his grandson's brain that time. Or lost his boyfriend. Or his home. Or any chance of reconciliation with his daughter. Or... Well, you get the picture. ;)

Happy or sad endings aside, "Children Of Earth" has been fabulous. Awkward type that I am, I still prefer season one, with all its manic twists and turns, but there's no denying that CoE has been the sort of drama that has turned heads. It's impressed a lot of people, and won over a lot of the show's previous critics. It's also been a hit sci-fi drama in prime time, something that hasn't been seen in a whole lot of years. Impressive, huh. :) Given the ending, however, many people are now saying that this is the end of Torchwood - but whether it is or it isn't (officially - in fanfiction land it's never the end), it can certainly never be the end of Jack. I do wish he hadn't been left on quite such a downer, but we all know there's no way of keeping a good man down for long. In the meantime then, off he goes hitch-hiking in space. And, lest we forget, with a pterodactyl waiting for him back home, should he choose to return.

I love this show. :)
