'85 was the last year of my childhood, so far as I reckon it. I remember hearing "Take On Me" at least 30 times at the State Fair that year. I started paying more attention to the concerts that year than the rides, too.
If by Country Dancing, you mean square dancing with a caller and dos-e-do and swing your partner, it's dying out in schools but was common in the USA southern schools.
