So, I eclipsed today. Or I sort of did. Brilliant, clear skies at eight o'clock this morning, but by the time things got interesting, the clouds were out. And then they were gone half an hour after it was all over. I swear, my astronomical career will forever have a large "cloud" stamp pasted across it. *heavy sigh*
Still, here's a picture of most of an eclipse.

(You may have to take my word for it).
I assume that the sun did come back out again. It was there later anyway; or a sun is. I suppose it's always possible somebody stole it, and replaced it with a ringer while it was hidden. Has anyone checked?
By the way, for those who are in to such things, which is presumably most of Classic Whodom, the BBC is in the process of reviving The Clangers (also known as the Master's favourite TV show, to those of us who are too young to have seen it the first time around). They released a special eclipse episode today as a taster for the new series. It's one minute forty-five, and it's here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2015/clangers-eclipse. There's something a bit weird about Michael Palin being the cuddly, grandpa-type narrator! At some point when I wasn't looking, he's got a bit old. This will require some adjustment.
Anyway - Clangers! Notice they don't get any blasted clouds.
*grumble grumble*
