Siegfried would announce loudly that he knows exactly what he's doing, thank you very much, and that it's all in perfectly good hands. Then he'd wander off, and leave James and Tristan desperately adlibbing their way out of freefall into a black hole. Meanwhile Siegfried would be busy filling the TARDIS with orphaned animals.
I can see him in the Master's shoes, certainly. He'd take great delight in lording it over poor Tristan, and making wild threats about eviscerating him. Whilst James sighs and rolls his eyes over in the corner.
