Snowflake Challenge: Day Two
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.
I am very fond of this video:
It's all about Quantum Leap, but it focuses mainly on the dancing scenes. QL was a lot of things - funny, sad, action-based, tinged with social commentary - you never knew what you'd get from an episode until you sat down to watch it. With a lead actor schooled in musicals though, one thing you could be sure of getting once or twice a season was singing and dancing. This video shuffles the fist fights, jokes and meaningful plotlines to one side, in favour of Sam leaping about, often in a profusion of ridiculous clothing. Celebrate Quantum Leap. You know you want to.
I'm also very fond of this one, although I certainly can't claim that Doctor Who is a small fandom. Torchwood maybe sort of is, but the video also leans towards South Park. Maybe that's a small fandom? I don't care, I just love this video.
Captain Jack is super. Well, you already knew that. Let this video show how super he is, with singing and hats.
Is this third one cheating? It's a professional fan vid, but nonetheless, it is a fanwork. Hundreds of years ago (back in the nineties), Late Night With Conan O'Brien did this tribute to Led Zeppelin. I love it. I love the time and energy that they put into recreating a Led Zep performance; and then suddenly it gets better, when they recreate part of the movie The Song Remains The Same, in all its barking mad, prog rock splendour. Conan fighting an evil knight is fun, but, as ever, Max gets the best bit.
And finally, in a very small fandom indeed, there's this story: Deadly Game. Ironside was a police show that ran from 1967 - 1975, and was as famous for the terrific chemistry between Chief Ironside and his team of detectives as it was for the well thought out plot lines.![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
seal_girl captures the dynamic between the team members perfectly, and is very good with the little details. This could very easily be an episode of the show. Great action scenes, a proper adventure, and the characters are recognisably the characters throughout. I am very picky about what I read when it comes to fan fiction, as I really don't like OOC stuff. That definitely isn't an issue here.
