It's that it scared me as a child - I don't remember why specifcally, but the theme music apparently always set me off, and then accumulated prejudice, because I do like science fiction and speculative fic.

Interesting who we come across, isn't it? I'd never go and watch a horror film unless if it featured supernatural monsters fighting each other/being emotional and angsty, where the aim isn't to frighten. I don't love gore, and there's a lot of compartmentalisation/hiding behind a cushion if things get too scary, gross or nasty.
