"CHiPs" I can't vouch for, but "Kojak" is worth hunting out. It really is good. Surprised me with an enlightened attitude to homosexuality in a couple of episodes too, given the mid-seventies date. Often hilarious attitude to women, though. "Of course the killer's a man! You think a woman could hit somebody from six feet away with only one shot?!"
